SUICIDE RATES GO UP WHEN CONSERVATIVES ARE IN POWER
The hard-hearted anti humanitarian political and economic polices of the conservatives have repercussions.
Suicide rates in conservative leaning Republican red states are on average 17 percent higher than in liberal Democratic blue states.
This fits in with British and Australian studies that showed higher suicide rates under conservative governments.

Read the excellent book "The Spirit Level." Written by two prominent British epidemiologists it compares a broad host of social ills from murder rates to illiteracy and teen pregnancy according to income inequality among nations of the OECD and also the states of the United States. Right wing governments tend to be social Darwinist and, in the result, steadfastly have the worst results across the board.
ReplyDeleteBTW and entirely off topic. In noticing your US debt ticker I was reminded of an observation the late Chalmers Johnson made in "Dismantling the Empire." When George W. took office, America's federal debt stood at just 5.7 trillion.

Leaving Obama out of this (he inherited his mess), name the only three post-WWII US Presidents who failed to reduce America's national debt as a percentage of GDP. Answer: Reagan, Bush I, Bush II. Every other president, Dem and Rep, including Johnston and Nixon during VietNam, reduced the debt/GDP ratio.
